2017 Senior Awards Night at Chipping Campden School

The 5th January was an atmospheric evening celebrating the varied achievements of students both past and present making the Senior Awards Night at Chipping Campden School for 2017 truly special.

Starting at 6:30pm with an extremely generous buffet, the evening was a night full of high spirits, a sense of accomplishment and definitely the pride from parents and teachers.

At 7pm, Principal John Sanderson welcomed all and, after a speech indicating the unrivalled resilience and perseverance of pupils at Chipping Campden School, he introduced Campden alumnus, Olympic gold medalist and Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, Matt Gotrel MBE. A second speech ensued, this time Matt sharing his adoption of a growth mindset which allowed him to become the athlete he is today. Importantly, he indicated how a growth mindset will allow pupils to reach great heights.

Once the speeches were complete, the awards began, starting with the current year 11s and a few words from their head of year, Mr Chris Walker. This was followed by the current year 12s with a brief speech from Mr Lloyd Evans; then the year 13s announced by Mr Richard Steeds. Finally last year's year 13s, who were home from university and travels, were presented their awards from Vice Principal Mrs Joanne King. With the acknowledgment of so many of the pupils' accomplishments, the night was extremely successful with over 150 awards given out.
