The Covent Garden Academy of Flowers in the Cotswolds
The arts and crafts history of Chipping Campden has attracted the Covent Garden Academy of Flowers, who have taken over a building on the high street. The new shop will be an exciting home and lifestyle store, as well as a home for creative flower workshops for students of all ages. These classes will include seasonal flower workshops in flower design, covering all sorts of topics such as hand tied bouquets, floral headdresses, Christmas wreaths, and flowers for the home. The students of such workshops will not only walk away with gorgeous flowers but a feeling of achievement and confidence in their new skills and perhaps even inspiration to continue working with flowers for their pleasure. However, if that's not your sort of thing, the stunning shop will be selling everything for the home including throws, ceramics, garden items, books, and other lifestyle products.
The appropriately named Fleur offers some exclusive tips for our readers about how to create the perfect, small flower arrangement:
‘When working on a small arrangement it is good to get proportionate flowers for your container, and go for an eclectic mix of shapes and textures. At the moment, I have an abundance of snow drops in my garden, and it is lovely to bring a few into the house and plant in interesting containers, such as small shells or little boxes. It is always a joy to bring nature in to the home. Herbs also lend themselves very well to small arrangements, and their delicate fragrance is an added joy.’
So please take a look around the Academy of Flowers when it arrives at the end of April, or early May and make them feel very welcome in the Campden community; in the mean time if you have used Fleur’s tips, do send us in pictures of your arrangements: thecidermillpress@ccsacademy.net
